{FIVE} Favorite Moments of the Week

Friday, May 29, 2015

HEELLLLOOOOOOO!!! I'm back from a little "Fay-cation" in Fayetteville. We got some much needed Mimi and Pop time before Mimi heads off to Uganda on a medical mission. It's so exciting to think that next time we see them we'll be headed to the beach, yaaay!! So here are some of our favorite moments from the week. I'll try not to overload you with too many pictures.

{ONE}
First off, this is by far my favorite picture of the three of us! I think I only have maybe three pictures of me with my babies. I love my boys sweet kisses. And how this picture captures Stella's love and admiration for her brother.

 {TWO}
Wyatt and Jax have created the sweet relationship over the past couple of months. I can't tell you how many times we heard, "Come on, Wyatt!" And we couldn't help but laugh at how we know we'll hear that for the rest of our lives.

 {THREE}
These sweet girls are so cute together as well!

But, let's be honest, this is how their relationship typically goes right now. Ha!

{FOUR}
I loved enjoying a morning with my boy! Conveniently there's a shopping center that has PetCo, Barnes & Noble, and Chick-Fil-A which can round out the perfect morning for us. Animals, trains, story time, and chicken...yep, pretty perfect!

{FIVE}
Our week wouldn't be complete without including our Mimi! She's definitely the rock of our family and we love her so much. Her sweet, giving heart is something I hope I emulate. Please keep her and the rest of the mission team in your prayers; they'll be leaving on Tuesday. If you're interested in keeping up with them as they're serving others you can read HERE.

Hope everyone has had a wonderful week!!

{FIVE} Favorite Moments of the Week

Friday, May 22, 2015

The weekend has already started in our part of the world! We're spending some time with family and loving it! And so far the kids are both sleeping really well, which is huge! So here's what's been going on with us this week.

{ONE}
Wyatt's last day of Pre-2 was Thursday and they had an adorable little program. His class "sang" (and by sang I mean they sat there and looked really cute) Itsy Bitsy Spider, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, and If You're Happy and You Know It.

And here's a little flashback....cue the tears.

{TWO}

Our family beach trip is quickly approaching!! Which really means mama needs to get to exercising. I'm actually not completely dissatisfied with my body but still not sure if I'll be rockin' a bikini this year. We'll see. And if you saw this picture on my INSTAGRAM then you already know, but there are TWENTY of us going...what? And ten of those are kids. We're crazy, I know. The last time we all took a trip together we were only a family of 9.  CRAZY!

 {THREE}
Speaking of the beach and swimsuits...I need suggestions. I have a one piece (similar to THIS) but I'm going to need at least one more option. I've really been looking into a high-waisted bikini bottom. I really like this one from URBAN OUTFITTERS. Sean's just not craaazy about it but I have so many tops that I could use with it. Opinions, please!

{FOUR}
My favorite show has returned, THE BACHELORETTE!! Which also means SHEAFFER'S re-caps have returned and if you've never read one you must. Now. She writes exactly what every person is thinking while watching and it's hilarious. HERE'S the re-cap from the first episode.

{FIVE}
And that's where I'm going to leave it this week! We're going to enjoy some time away from home and soaking up time with our "MyMy"!

Hope everyone has an awesome Memorial Day weekend!!

Baby Food Combinations

Wednesday, May 20, 2015

Yesterday I shared some of my MUST-HAVES for making baby food, and today I'm sharing some recipes that I use. Well, they're not recipes so much as they are food combinations. A recipe would require me to actually have exact measurements of the ingredients.

Mixed Berries, Apple Sauce, and Spinach

Squash and Apple Sauce

Zucchini and Mixed Berries

Blueberries, Strawberries, and Spinach

Pumpkin, Squash, and Apple Sauce

Spinach and Pears

--I don't have exact measurements for any of these combinations. I shoot for equal divisions of the ingredients but it really comes down to taste. I tend to make the purees a little sweet.
--Most of the time I use frozen fruit, it's just easier to me, and keeps longer. I also use pre-made unsweetened apple sauce; I don't make my own.
--When preparing the squash and zucchini, I peel them and cut them in to thin slices. Then I put them in a microwave safe cup/dish and microwave for about 2 minutes, until they're soft.

Baby Food Must-Haves

Tuesday, May 19, 2015

Stella has recently really gotten in to eating solids. She's so different than Wyatt was when it comes to eating that I'm having to figure things out again. She hates being fed by a spoon so I've resorted to pouches and fresh food feeders. These items have been the most helpful when it comes to making her baby food.

ONE | This Cuisinart set has been great for pureeing all of the food. I have not had a problem pureeing anything and everything that I throw together. I like the submersion mixer because I can also use larger bowls, for larger amounts of food, and it works just as well.
TWO | Like I mentioned before, Stella doesn't really care to be spoon fed. Putting the purees into pouches allows her to feed herself. These are great because you can also stick the pouches in the freezer to save them. These are great too if you're worried about choking hazards when mixing your own food; the dispenser doesn't allow for large pieces.
THREE | These are the pouches that you can buy as replacements. It's suggested to throw them out once have been used once. This is still cheaper than buying the pre-made pouches at the store...trust me.
FOUR | I don't put all of the food into pouches. I also use these freezer trays to store some. I can pop one of the cubes out and stick them in a fresh food feeder and Stella can still feed herself. These are great though too if you are spoon feeding; you just thaw them out overnight in the fridge.
FIVE | Here are the fresh food feeders. We use these on the daily; Wyatt still even uses them. I can put frozen fruit, frozen purees, fresh fruit and even other foods in them. They are a little tricky to clean so I always suggest washing them immediately after use with hot water and soap.

Hopefully these items can give you some guidance when it comes to making baby foods for your littles. Check back tomorrow, I'll be sharing some of our favorite, quick recipes. Also, you can check HERE to enter the giveaway for a $15 ZozuBaby shop credit!

Our Weekend

Sunday, May 17, 2015

We had a pretty low-key weekend around here. Pretty boring actually. I feel like we should have done more but I was kind of blah.

Friday was pretty good. We started with some train watching and a picnic at the park. Wyatt enjoyed his first peach water from Sonic, it was definitely a hit.

Friday evening we went to a friends' 6th birthday party. It was a painting party and was absolutely adorable. Wyatt really enjoyed his paint project and was entertained for much longer than I'd imagined.

A new tradition has started on Saturday mornings, Sean makes a yummy breakfast...which totally works for me. After that the boys went to the store and ran around for a bit. Our afternoon was pretty low-key. I ended up with an upset stomach so we decided it was a good time to introduce Wyatt to the movie "Up" and he loved it. I, on the other hand, find it absolutely heart-wrenching. The entire thing.

How could I not take pictures of this cutie in her adorable jammies??

 Apparently my upset tummy was transferred to this one and we both missed out on quite a bit of sleep Saturday night. It was a long night, to say the least.

With the lack of sleep in our house, Sunday ended up being another pretty lazy day. We played outside, watched some movies, and took naps.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some sleep tonight and a great week ahead! And am really looking forward to a weekend with family next weekend!

 P.S. Don't forget the ZozuBaby giveaway begins tomorrow morning!!

{FIVE} Favorite Moments of the Week + A GIVEAWAY!!

Friday, May 15, 2015

WHEW, y'all! Thank goodness it's Friday because I'm not sure I'd make it another day. It's already been one of those mornings; kids up too early, rain, and lots of whining going on around here. Yep, let's pretend my two year old is not outside eating a popsicle at 9 in the morning. Aaaanyways, here are some of my favorite moments of the week!

{ONE}
Lots of outside popsicles this week, and one little boy is definitely not complaining about it.
Is that not the cutest popsicle face you've ever seen??

 {TWO}
Our little princess turned 7 months old on Monday. I can't even believe it. You can read all about what she's up to HERE.

 {THREE}
Speaking of our princess, she's really taken off in the eating department. Girlfriend loves some food, as long as she can feed herself. I've got a post coming up next week with some of our favorite quick recipes. Also, please ignore the blue bib. #LittleSisterProblems

{FOUR}
I found this awesome ARTICLE about parents of red-headed children. I thought it was pretty funny...especially since I read it at about 2 in the morning.

 {FIVE}
And last, but certainly not least, a giveaway for all the mama's out there! I'm teaming up with Sandy from ZOZUBABY to give away a $15 shop credit!! Make sure you check back on Monday for your chance to win!
