Summer Bucket List || Water Balloons

Tuesday, June 28, 2016

We played with water balloons back a couple weeks ago (actually back before our trip to Cali!!). And let me just say, taking pictures of kids with water balloons was really hard. Please notice, there are none of Stella. They're either holding them or they balloons are popped.

 But! They absolutely loved them, and Wyatt asks every week if we can get more. We definitely will, but that was a lot of trash to clean up.

We bought those new water balloons that just hook up to the hose. Easy-peasy and loads of fun!

Thursday Confessions

Thursday, June 23, 2016

I really needed to get these confessions out in the open, so thanks for listening. I feel better.

Sparkles and Lattes

{one} I've been known to threaten Wyatt with a shower of cold water if he doesn't get out of the tub at night. It works.

{two} I may have just realized that oatmeal is so much better when you pour the hot water over it, rather than microwaving. No judging please.

{three} I got Wyatt out of bed to see the lightning bugs the other night. I kindof regretted it when he was still awake at 9:30.

{four} I have a love/hate relationship with going to the pool. I love that it wears the kids out and they have fun, but it is so exhausting. Loading up, unloading, playing/entertaining, loading up again, unloading again. Would definitely be a lot easier if we just had our own pool. Right, babe??

{five} I really want to see Finding Dory but really don't want to take the kids. We took Wyatt to see Roadchip and it was a disaster. We had to walk out. Guess I'll just wait for it to come out on Redbox.

{six} Wyatt has started saying:
"Oh! Right, right, right"
"Oh, my gosh!"
"Yea, I know. I know, I know, I know."
Like a complete valley girl boy, and it's hysterical.

{seven} Also, if you haven' t seen the new So You Think You Can Dance, you need to. It's all kids and Wyatt is obsessed. He watches and tries to mimic their moves. So cute.

Summer Bucket List || Visit Museum

Tuesday, June 21, 2016

Our Father's Day weekend was not typical for us. I know I discussed it some on Friday, but Sean worked worked night shift (2-midnight) on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday. It threw us off our game a bit, and really wiped us out. But, that didn't stop us from celebrating our number one guy.

A couple weeks ago I took the kids to the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources. It's about 15 minutes from our house, in the middle of nowhere. Turns out it's also free, and really pretty neat. Sean was a bit jealous when he found out how cool it was so we made plans to visit on Saturday morning. Call it our Father's Day celebration.

The kids had a great time showing daddy around, and making sure he didn't have a chance to read about anything. They have a really great tinkering area for kids that Wyatt didn't get to experience the first time we were there. He had a great time creating and coloring.

I see many visits for us this summer, and beyond. You really can't beat free, air conditioned entertainment.

{FIVE} Favorite Moments of the Past Two Weeks

Friday, June 17, 2016

It has been nearly a month since I've participated in the Friday link-ups!! How can that be?? We've just been so busy, and the past two weeks have definitely not slowed down. This past week Sean was out of town one night, we had VBS every night from 5-7:30, and Sean is working the second shift all weekend. Anywho, here's a bit of fun that we've been up to!

{ONE}
Last week we were able to enjoy some park time. It was hot, but not as hot as it's been this week. Thankfully we have one park that stays pretty shaded for most the morning, otherwise we'd never be at the park.

{TWO}
We had Vacation Bible School this week. It was Wyatt's first year to actually participate and he did not hate it. At all. I taught science for all the different age groups and was completely exhausted. Stella really enjoyed her time with Ms. Martha in the nursery too, and she did some adorable crafts.

 {THREE}
Last Thursday the kids and I had big plans to go to a butterfly demonstration at a local museum. That was until we got there. We walked into a conference room filled with 3rd-5th graders, and maybe a few kindergartners. I decided it'd probably be best if we stepped out, since both kids were already ready to run around. But we discovered that the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources is not only free, but really cool! We will definitely be going back. Daddy was jealous he missed out.

 {FOUR}
We've been trying to walk at night, even in the crazy heat and humidity. To try and keep it quick and moving we have the kids ride in the 'gator'. One night we were making our rounds and Wyatt had to stop and get pictures of the squirrels running around. I have no idea where he gets his knack for photography.

{FIVE}
Thank goodness for the pool! It's pretty much the only way we survive in the summer. Wyatt is doing great, and is jumping off the diving board the entire time we're there. We usually spend 1.5-2 hours there every morning, and it's really helping Stella warm up to the water. The first day we went she pretty much cried the whole time.  It's getting better, though!

 I'm patiently counting down the nights until we're all back together for dinners again. Hope everyone has a great weekend! And try to stay cool!

Dorey's Do California || Beach Camping & Hwy 1

Tuesday, June 14, 2016

Finishing up the re-cap on our California trip. To read about our other California adventures you can read them here, here and here
We left Lake Tahoe on Thursday morning (day 5) and it was my 30th birthday! We headed towards the coast and our campsite for the night.
We actually camped on the beach in Westport. It was absolutely amazing.

After we set up camp Sean really wanted to take me to dinner. Thankfully there was an amazing little pub right down the road. It was actually part of a B&B and I wouldn't be surprised if we're back there one day.

It reminded us so much of where we stayed on our honeymoon (Greyfield Inn on Cumberland Island). There was so much character and the food was amazing!

We made it back in time to catch the sunset and build a fire. I really wasn't prepared for the cool air. The only beaches I've ever been to are not cool.

The next morning we got up and around. We enjoyed breakfast on the beach, coffee, and a little walk. We then loaded up and headed to Fort Bragg. We stopped in at MacKerricher State Park and were able to see some seals and sea lions soaking up some rays.

We also stopped in at the glass beach. I really wanted to stop there, but Sean was much more interested than me once we were actually there. I'm pretty sure he would have stayed all day digging up pieces of red and green glass.

We made it down Hwy 1 to San Francisco. Honestly, I was not prepared for those roads. And neither was Sean. I've never seen him so nervous driving down a road.

Once we were in the city we found a hotel near the airport, got cleaned up, and re-packed to fly home. We had the best time but were definitely ready to see our babies.
