We had Wyatt's 1 month appointment yesterday. Dr. G said he looks perfect...what more could I ask for?? He's 100% for length, 95% for head circumference, and 75% for weight. Our growing boy has grown a few inches and gained almost 3 pounds since our last visit three weeks ago!

Three Weeks

Friday, May 17, 2013

My boy is growing so fast...I just want time to stop.  I'm sure there will be many stages of his life that I'll love, but I'm enjoying this age so much.  He's so happy and carefree...just laying looking at speakers on the ceiling, turtles on his play mat, and anything else he can find.  I love his little smile, it just makes me melt.
We've been busy this week.  We made our first (of many) trips to the Adams house, where he got to meet Colin, Ellie, and Jonathan.  He and I made our first trip solo to the post office, and we took daddy lunch.  We had a few visitors come and say hi.  We're looking forward to the weekend and some daddy time!

I am so grateful that I was chosen to be the mother of this wonderful, perfect gift!  He is everything I could have asked for and so much more.  I could not have dreamed up such a perfect child.  Also, thankful to have been blessed with such an amazing mother.  She has shown me the kind of mother I want to be for my Wyatt.
I have had an awesome first Mother's Day!!  Sean Wyatt has spoiled me with gifts and rest.  I couldn't have asked for a better day!

Wyatt's First Check-Up

Thursday, May 9, 2013

We had Wyatt's first doctor's appointment on Monday.  I was so relieved to know that he had gained weight! He actually passed his birth weight and now weighs 8 pounds! I've had a few issues since starting to breastfeed and I worried that he wasn't getting enough.  I think we've finally figured things out now.  He's eating about every 2 hours during the day and about every 3-4 hours at night (depending on who's ready first, me or him).  Dr. G said everything looks great and he's healthy, and that's all that really matters to his daddy and me!

Friday, May 3, 2013

Friday, April 26 started for me at 2:15am when the nurses gave me a second dose of Cytotec. After that I was able to drift in and out of sleep until about 5. At 5:00am I woke with my first labor contraction. It wasn't too harsh but it woke me. At 6:00 they started my Pitocin drip and informed me that they would be increasing the dosage every 15 minutes as needed. By 9:00 Dr. R came in and broke my water, I was 2cm dilated. I was in quite a bit of pain and asking for some kind of pain relief so Dr. R told them I could go ahead and have an epidural. By the time the anesthesiologist arrived and my epidural was in I was then dilated to a 4. From then I continued to progress pretty quickly. A little before 2:00pm I was fully dilated. Sean and the nurses did a wonderful job the next two hours trying to get our little stubborn guy to come down but none of their "tricks" seemed to work. Dr. R came in around 4 and decided we'd use his "trick" (i.e. forceps). Well, his "trick" worked and at 4:26pm Wyatt was born. It was such a surreal moment for both Sean and me. He's one week old today and we are just so smitten and in love with this little miracle. I've always heard people say the couldn't imagine their lives before, and it's so true.

These are some of the many things we love about you already:

  • You're high-pitched "girl" scream when you're mad.
  • Your tiny feet and toes that curl around daddy's finger.
  • Your mini-mullet.
  • How alert you are and how you're always looking around for something new.
  • I love how much you love your daddy and the way you watch him. He loves you so much.
  • I love our late night/early morning feedings and "talks".
  • Your little words...well, we think they're words.

Wyatt's birth story starts on April 25, 2013, one week ago from today.  Sean and I checked into the hospital around 7:00pm, after enjoying an early dinner and a movie.  We got to the room and got ourselves settled a little & then I was hooked up to the monitors and and IV.  At 8:00 they gave me Cytotec to help start some contraction and, hopefully, dilation.  They told me I could have my last meal, until after I delivered, during the time between 10 and midnight.  Since I didn't know how long delivery would be I wanted to make sure I was good and full.  Mom and Russell got to the hospital a little after 10, so Russell and Sean went to Wendy's for me.  We hung out, ate, and watched some TV before mom and Russell headed to the house for the night.  Sean and I were left to try and get some sleep before the big day............

Sean's a genius and actually had the idea to bring a cot to sleep on so he wouldn't have to sleep on the awful chair/bed
