Sunday Social

Today I'm linking up with Ashley and her Sunday Social link-up!

1. Did you sleepwalk as a child?
No, and that totally freaks me out!!

2. Did you ever try to run away or sneak out of your house?
No, but that doesn't mean that people weren't snuck in.

3. Did you have any imaginary friends?
No, but my brother did...Barbara! Ha!
I had my Barbies so I didn't need to "pretend" to have a friend. :)

4. Did you ever go toilet papering?
YES!! On more than one occasion.

5. Did you ever sneak TV shows you weren't allowed to watch?
Not that I can remember.  Of course there were some shows I probably didn't talk about watching, like Real World.  I do remember watching Scream for the first time at a sleepover and thinking I could probably get in trouble for watching it, but I didn't.

Chocolate, anyone??

I'm involved in a group known as PAWE (Professional Association of Women Educators) and in December we held a brunch and silent auction to raise funds for one of our missions.  One of the items up for grabs was a Dessert-of-the-Month "club".  My month was actually March and I made, what looked to be, a delicious chocolate cake (I don't actually know since I'm not the one who got to eat it!). But I thought I'd share the recipe anyway! (Hopefully I'll have time and energy to actually make one for us soon!)

Ingredients:
  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package of Devil's Food Cake mix
  • 1 (5.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 1 Cup Sour Cream
  • 1 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup warm water
  • 2 Cups Semisweet Chocolate Chips
  • Duncan Hines Chocolate Glaze

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the cake and pudding mixes, sour cream, oil, beaten eggs, and water. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  3. Pour into a well greased 12 cup bundt pan.
  4. Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until top is springy to the touch and a wooden toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  5. Cool cake thoroughly in pan at least and hour and a half before inverting onto a plate.
  6. Drizzle top with chocolate glaze (or dust with powdered sugar).

Jackfruit

Monday, April 22, 2013

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 40 Weeks (4/18/13)
Size of baby: 20.5 inches and about 7.5-8 pounds! Right now our baby is the size of a jackfruit!
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +/- 40 pounds
Maternity Clothes: I'm definitely wearing maternity clothes!  The most comfortable thing to wear now are my sweatpants.
Gender: BOY!!...Wyatt Haischer Dorey!!
Movement: He has stopped moving as much, just mainly at night when I lay down to sleep. Except for the occasional jabbing of the knees and elbows.
Food Cravings: Still no cravings
Food Aversion: No
What I miss: This week I'm really missing my "normal" clothes.  I know it may still be a little while before I can wear all of my old clothes but at least I would have a few more clothing options.  I feel like all I wear are shorts/sweatpants and t-shirts.  Plus the weather is getting increasingly warmer and I don't really have an abundance of clothing for 90 degree weather.
Sleep: I typically wake up around 4/4:30 and stay awake for about an hour or two and then sleep again until about 9.  I feel bad because that means Sean has been waking up that early as well.
Symptoms: Some swelling in my hands and feet, back pain, braxton hicks contractions, some crazy numb/sore/burning feeling on my belly under my breasts,  and lower pressure (like he's about to "fall out"!).  And to add to it...stretch marks.  I forgot to mention them last week, they've only been noticeable for a couple of weeks now. :/
Best Moment this Week: Pampering myself a bit with a pedicure and hair cut.  Other than that, just enjoying some time at home.
What I am Looking Forward To: Wyatt being born!! (Hopefully any day now!)

Sunday Social

Well it has been awhile, but today I'm linking up with Ashley from Ashley Lately.  You should definitely check her blog out....if you haven't already!

1. What is your shopping weakness?
Shoes!! Well, I used to say no matter what, they always fit, but that theory has changed a bit now that I'm almost 41 weeks pregnant. :)

2. What is your food weakness?
A good ole' cheeseburger with cheese and Ketchup only. Ha!
Oh, and don't forget the french fries...unless I'm at Sonic, then it's tater tots! :)

3. What is your go to movie to watch when nothing is on?
I absolutely love a good chick flick, but preferably not sad ones...like The Notebook.  I'll sit and cry for hours and then be in a "sad" mood.  I prefer 13 Going On 30 or 50 First Dates...I guess more of a romantic comedy. :)

4. What is your go to breakfast food?
Since I've been pregnant it's been Honey Nut Cheerios.  Before I usually just went for a quick breakfast bar.

5. Do you drink coffee? If so, how do you take it?
I love flavored coffee!! My favorite is Hazelnut coffee with International Delight chocolate and caramel creamer...mmmmm.  And the best part is that they make a decaf version of the Hazelnut coffee for the Keurig.  So even though I'm pregnant, I can still enjoy the awesome taste!

Wyatt's Nursery - Final Product

Monday, April 15, 2013

We finally finished Wyatt's room, I'm so excited!! I just love going and sitting in the rocker and looking around, imagining what it will be like with him here.  I wrote down pretty much everything that we have in the room, except the prints on the wall.  They are actually hand drawn engineering prints of various airplane parts.  Probably one of my absolute favorite things (which isn't pictured but it's in the video) are his initials next to the window.  Candi actually copied engineering text book paper to create them!
I think our little "boy genius" is going to love his room!

Wall Color: Sherwin Williams - Light French Gray
Crib: Wal-Mart - Modena in Cool Grey finish
Bedding: Sheets - American Baby Company
Crib Skirt - Hobby Lobby - Zig Zag Drake fabric

Dresser: This dresser belonged to my mother as a little girl and then was mine, now it's Wyatt's.  The paint color was color matched at Sherwin Williams to match the crib.  The knobs are from Hobby Lobby, they look like old water faucet knobs.
Rocker: The rocker belonged to my great-grandmother & then my grandmother. My mom had it re-upholstered for us in Waverly - Newport Matelasse Fog.
Rug: Wal-Mart - Shaw Living Shag in Fresh Ivory
Airplanes: Pottery Barn Kids (Not hung yet, but you can see them next to the rocker)

Our Low-Key Weekend

Sunday, April 14, 2013

We've had a pretty great weekend! It could be our last weekend without our little guy, which is so crazy to think about!
Friday night we had a little date night at Larry's Pizza...I always love pizza parade! While we were sitting at our little table for two I realized it may be the last time we sit at a table for two...except for our occasional date nights, of course.  Then we did a little walking around at Home Depot.
Saturday morning Sean worked and I ran a few small errands.  Then I went to Colin's first t-ball game of the season, which meant I also enjoyed my first sno-cone of the season! I always love seeing those little guys and gals out there having fun.  Plus, I got to see a few of my students, both past and present.  Saturday night Sean and I went to dinner at Rachel and Jacob's with the Adams family.  I enjoyed some good spicy tamales...which can't hurt at this point! (I'm trying anything to get this little toot out! :) )  And sweet baby O did not mind all of the holding and attention she got from me!
Today we've been relaxing.  I had a lot of swelling last night so I'm trying to take it easy.  But, I can't resist the deliciousness of some KFC for lunch...that ought to be good for the swelling, right?? ;)  Also, wishing we could be in VB with my family celebrating my Grandpa's 75th birthday at Catfish Hole.  I guess Wyatt will have to do as a birthday present this year! :)
Happy birthday, Pa!

Who Will Wyatt Look Like??

Wednesday, April 10, 2013

This is something I have been wondering since we found out we were expecting.  As the time for him to arrive is now closer it's really been on my mind. Mom and I started looking at baby pictures of Sean and me to see what the possibilities might be, and I decided to share.  I love that even as a baby Sean had a receding hairline....it's precious! I would love for Wyatt to have more hair, like I did, but I don't think that's going to happen.  We were both long, I was a little over 21 inches and Sean was about 22 inches, so we're assuming he's going to be a pretty long and skinny boy.  Eeeeeek!!! I just can't wait!

Pumpkin

Tuesday, April 9, 2013

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 38 Weeks (4/4/13)
Size of baby: 19.75 inches and about 6.8 pounds! Right now our baby is the size of a Pumpkin!
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +/- 37 pounds
Maternity Clothes: I'm definitely wearing maternity clothes!  The most comfortable thing to wear now are my sweatpants.
Gender: BOY!!...Wyatt Haischer Dorey!!
Movement: Wyatt has started digging into my sides pretty hard.  Sometimes I wonder how he gets so far over there.
Food Cravings: Still no cravings
Food Aversion: No
What I miss: Being able to do things (like walking) without feeling like a ran a marathon.
Sleep: Sleeping a little better this week.  I think I'm just so exhausted from testing at school and the constant marathon runner feeling. :)
Symptoms: Some swelling in my hands and feet, back pain, braxton hicks contractions, some crazy numb/sore/burning feeling on my belly under my breasts,  acne (like I'm back in the first trimester) and lower pressure (like he's about to "fall out"!).
Best Moment this Week: Found knobs for the dresser and got all of the prints hung!!  Also, seeing how excited Sean is becoming...he told me he's tired of me getting to be the one to hold him all the time. :) Oh! and I didn't gain any weight on the doctor's scale this week!
What I am Looking Forward To: A little down time at home, hopefully, before he arrives.

Bittersweet Day

Saturday, April 6, 2013

Yesterday was a  very bittersweet day for me.
It was my last day of the school year with my kiddos.  But not only was it my last day for this school year, it was my last day of teaching....for at least a year or two.  The day was made very special by my students and their sweet parents. They threw me  a "surprise" baby shower!  I say "surprise" because for first graders it is very hard to keep a secret, but they did great, until Friday. :)

Easter Weekend

Wednesday, April 3, 2013

We had a very nice, low-key, Easter weekend.  I had off on Good Friday and was able to spend the day relaxing.  It was a dreary weekend but we didn't let that stop us on Saturday.  We headed to Hot Springs and did a little shopping and of course ate at Chic-Fil-A.  The weather did not improve for Easter morning.  On our way to church it stormed and hailed...the electricity actually flickered during the service.  Sunday for lunch we invited some of the young guys that work with Sean over to eat.  It was good company but I was definitely worn out.  I ended up asleep in the recliner...but I did at least wait until they left.  :)

Wyatt's Easter basket from his Great Aunt Lisa and filled via his Mimi.

Sean's favorite purchase at Sam's.
