Sweet Turtle Soup

We did a little pumpkin carving this week....well, I did a little pumpkin carving.  But, before we carved Wyatt's first pumpkin I had to get a few pictures of him with his pumpkin.

New mom alert:  Wyatt wore his pumpkin shirt on Monday and I totally forgot to take any pictures. So, of course (like any normal person), I washed it Tuesday morning so he could wear it again and I could take some pictures. At least it's clean, though...right??  The best part?? His daddy didn't even notice he wore the same shirt two days in a row! HA!

Of course, right about the time I was finally ready to start carving, someone got a little cranky.  I think he just wanted to watch TV with daddy. Don't you love the sticker?  Mimi sent us some Halloween stickers!

And, here's our little cow! HA! If you've read this blog long enough, you probably know about our obsession with Chick-fil-A.  We're headed out tonight to show him off at a local church, they're hosting a Trunk-or-Treat. We're going with the Adams family, should be lots of fun!!
Happy Halloween, y'all!
Now, head on over to SWEET TURTLE SOUP and share what you've done this week to celebrate Halloween!

taco salad

Sunday, October 27, 2013

Taco salad is probably one of my favorite dinners to make.  Not only is it delicious, it's pretty easy.  And, of course, I love any meal that includes chips.  Especially these Tostitos chips.  We discovered these chips probably about a month ago, and we can't get enough.  I literally just have to walk away from the bag.  Anyways.  For the taco salad you pretty much just make what you like and pile it up.

As you can see mine stops with the lettuce and cheese.  Sean adds salsa, tomatoes, and sour cream to his. I do not.  I do not eat tomatoes.  I will not eat them in a box or with a fox. I do not like them.  But I don't judge those of you that do.

And there you have it. My taco salad recipe.

6 months!!

Saturday, October 26, 2013

Wyatt,
Our sweet little man, it's so hard to believe that you have already been with us half of a year. This has probably been one of the most trying months, and the most fun. You were sick for the first time and put on amoxicillin. You are teething and your sleeping patterns have taken a turn for the worse. But, with all of that, you are happier than ever.  You are learning and trying new things everyday.  Your daddy and I agree that this is our favorite stage so far.  We love you more and more everyday, baby boy!

What you did this month:
  • You are wearing size 3 diapers.
  • You are wearing size 6/9 months and some 9/12 months clothes.
  • You weigh 19 pounds and I'm guessing you're around 29" long.
  • You are eating every 2-3 hours during the day.
  • You are still going to bed around 8 and waking up 1-2 times a night...or more.  We start our days between 7 & 8.
  • You are taking naps at 9:30, (sometimes) 1:30, and sometimes a catnap around 5.
  • You have tried a few new foods this month, green beans & squash.  You tried banana yogurt but it did not agree with you.
  • You are now sitting up on your own.  I still keep your Boppy around you because you still occasionally fall over.
  • You are reaching for everything.  I turned around the other day and you had your toy bin pulled towards you, and you were trying to get toys out.
  • You love your animals.  If any animal is near you (or not) you squeal and start babbling.  I think they are who will get you to crawl.
  • You love to blow "raspberries".  It's usually when I'm trying to get you to sleep...you always know how to make me smile.
  • You love to swing.  We went to the park a few time before we broke down and bought you one for the house.
  • You sat in a highchair & a cart at Wal-Mart for the first time this month.
  • You love when your daddy gets home from work.  You get a cheesy grin and start bouncing with excitement.

5 on Friday {citrus lane}

Friday, October 25, 2013

My 5 for today is all about our Citrus Lane box that arrived yesterday!! I'm so excited and wanted to share with y'all what we received this month.

--one--
The first thing I noticed was the box of BOON DIVE BATH TUB APPLIQUES.  I'm looking forward to getting these in the tub with Wyatt.  I'm sure, for now, he'll enjoy chewing on them. HA!

--two--
We also received some GRIPE WATER, which you can never have too much of! We've only had to use it once but you never know when it might be needed, especially since I'm still breastfeeding.

--three--
The EZ GRIP MASSAGING TEETHER could not have come eat a more perfect time.  Our little guy is chewing on everything! Wyatt has already really taken to it.  I just put it on his play mat with the rest of the toys and he really gravitated towards it.

--four--
The fourth item is the GREEN TONES ELEPHANT SHAKER. This is the perfect size for Wyatt's little hands and little mouth!

--five--
You can receive $10 off of your first Citrus Lane box by clicking HERE!  Boxes have age ranges from infants to toddlers, so no one is left out!

Now it's your turn to link-up!

Sean's 30th {beer, beer, beer}

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

So, remember like a month ago when my husband turned 30?? Yea, I almost forgot too! Well, we had a little get together for him with a few of our closest friends and I never got around to posting about it.  I threw a beer themed party, well, because who doesn't love beer....besides me?  And no, I did not come up with the ideas on my own.  I have to give props to JESSICA and her amazing party for a few of the ideas.  Of course, not everything turned out exactly how I'd imagined, but that's OK.  I'm just glad it finally quit raining so we didn't have to all be crammed inside all night.

On the inviatation we asked that everyone bring a particular type of beer based on the first letter of their last name.  We had three types: lager, ale, and stout.  It worked out perfectly and had a ton of beer.

Since we live in such a rural area, it's hard to find beer that no one has had before.  Luckily, Sean and I had made a trip to DALLAS a couple weeks prior and picked up a few local brews there. I went ahead and made a Beer Tasting Sheet, just in case.  Mainly because I thought it was clever.

Sean made an awesome Jenga game for everyone to play and we moved one of our tv's outside for watching football.  Jenga was definitely a hit! What do you expect, I guess, when you get a bunch of engineers together??

We served BBQ pork and chicken sandwiches, macaroni salad, and potato salad.  And, of course, what is a party without cupcakes??

All in all, I think Sean had a great time and that's all that mattered to me!

our weekend {family, friends, & fun}

Monday, October 21, 2013

We spent our weekend traveling, and with several things on our itinerary. First item to check off was meeting our new niece, Paysli! Sean's sister delivered Paysli on October 8 and I couldn't wait to get my hands on her! I couldn't get over how small she is. We quickly forget how small babies are when they're born!

Saturday morning mom, Wyatt, and I headed out to find leaves and pumpkins.  I was determined to get some pictures of Wyatt while we were in town.  Luckily, we found both! But that will be a post for a different day...there are too many pictures!

Saturday afternoon offered a much needed break for this exhausted mama! My bestie, Kristian, and I spent the afternoon pampering ourselves.  You may remember, Kristian has a daughter, Hattie, who is about 3 months younger than Wyatt.  So we were both ready for some baby-free time.
We started our afternoon off with massages! OH.MY. I forgot how much I enjoy a good massage.  Especially now that I tote around a 20 pound, bouncing, bundle of joy. I definitely need to put those on the calendar more often!
We then headed to one of our favorite spots, SHOGUN, for some delicious Japanese cuisine. And I will go ahead and clarify...we didn't eat all of it! HA!

We topped our day off with a little shopping at Carter's and pedicures! It was so fun, and so needed!

Sunday, before leaving town, we met up with Cody, Justin, Tiffany, and Jax for lunch.  Wyatt sat in a highchair for the first time, he looked so big!  He and Jax had a great time chatting.  And, of course, Wyatt couldn't figure out why he couldn't enjoy some chips and salsa as well.

Link up and share your weekend!

I'm not even going to lie, it's taken me 3 days to get this written...it's just been that kind of a week.  It hasn't been a bad week, just busy. It's rainy here today and Wyatt and I have nothing planned...other than naps, of course!

So, I'm finally linking up with Chelsea and Stephanie for Kitchenspiration.  And I'm going to be honest, our meal plan looks pretty weak this week.  We just have too much going on.  But, the good news?? I got the next 4 weeks planned too! YAY! for getting my groceries bought for the month!
