Summer Bucket List: Park Discovery

The Chronicles of We
It's a little tricky around where we live to find new parks since we live in such a rural area.  We have three different ones here in Camden.  One, Timothy Park, we are frequent visitors.  It's even where we had Wyatt's first birthday party! Two, Carnes Park, we've been twice now and it's pretty good.  There are several toys that are just his size. And three, Sandy Beach, it doesn't really offer much for Wyatt.  There's a lot of climbing and such involved.

We visited both Timothy Park and Carnes Park this week! The weather wasn't too hot and there was a breeze almost everyday, so, I'll take it!

^^^^Timothy Park^^^^
Swinging and rocks are the hit of this park! Oh, and the merry-go-round, but I was too nervous to let go of him to take a picture. Ha!

^^^^Carnes Park^^^^
We weren't there very long.  In the first picture, yea, that was right before he hit his face on one of the bars.  The second picture, he cried when I tried to put him on the whale.  And the third picture, yep, that's him walking himself to the car! #parkfail

We did visit a little park when we visited Fayetteville back a couple weeks ago.  He actually loved it and I'm hoping to go back next time we're up there. These are a few pictures from our visit there with Mimi!

14 Months!!

Thursday, June 26, 2014

Wyatt,
You are our little "smartie pants" and we love you so much! You are so independent these days, hold hands??...psh! This month we've had a few, hmmm, low points. You spent your first week in a nursery (for 3 hours, mind you) and it was tough on us both.  And the last week we've had some teething and sleeping issues. I'm hoping this will pass fairly quickly and we can get back on our schedule! We love you so much, son!

What you did this month:
  • You weigh somewhere around 24 pounds. Height, not real sure.
  • You are wearing size 4 diapers.
  • You are wearing size 12-18 months clothing.
  • You are drinking milk and juice/water from your cups during the day.  You still have bottles at night.  We're trying to wean you of them but so far you still like the milk/water mix, hopefully you'll get the hint soon.
  • You eat solids for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, usually with a snack in the morning and afternoon.
  • You started only taking one nap a day this month and it worked for a bit. Although, since you've been teething we've gone back to two.
  • You are doing great with walking! You are even getting more adventurous with climbing up and down. You climbed off of our bed by yourself yesterday for the first time.
  • You have 8 teeth now, your four front teeth plus four back teeth.
  • You still love to play outside, especially in water.  We play in the hose or at the pool at least once everyday.
  • You still love to "help" all the time.  You've even started "helping" vacuum.
  • Like I said, you spent your first week in a nursery, away from Mama this month. It was hard but you (we) survived.
  • You are comprehending so much of what we say, it's still so unreal to me.  I can just say a word and you take off to whatever it is.  I'm hoping your vocabulary will start to pick up soon but know that it's ok if it doesn't.
  • You love singing songs with Mama! Your new favorite is "If You're Happy and You Know It".  You clap the entire time I'm singing it.
  • You've really enjoyed all the trucks and commotion around the house lately.

House Addition {UPDATE}

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

We've had some busy bees around here the past couple of weeks!

They marked off the outlines for the different spaces and brought in the concrete bricks.

The bricks were layed and then fill dirt was brought in (about 4 truck loads, I think).

Once all the dirt was brought in and packed they finished the bricking and it was prepared for the cement!

We now officially have a slab but it's covered up so I don't have a picture yet, they poured that Friday.  They're letting it "cure" until Monday and then they will start framing! It's crazy how quickly everything is going now, love seeing the progress!

I was browsing through the pictures on my phone and realized I have a ton of pictures of our favorite little man.  I thought I'd just post them here to share with y'all.  They're in no particular order.  And, if you follow me on Instagram then I apologize because you've probably seen a few of these. But, if you don't follow, you should, and you can click on the tab over to the right!

Summer Bucket List: Afternoon of {MESSY} Fun

Friday, June 20, 2014

The Chronicles of We

I have a rather large confession....I do not like to be messy.  That includes sticky, dirty, sweaty, etc.  That being said, I don't want my children to have the same "fears" that I do.  Luckily, I have they're daddy to help in this department.

So, yesterday I got the great idea that I would take Wyatt outside for some messy fun! It included popsicles and finger paints.  Of course, in my head, I envisioned Wyatt totally understanding what to do and being a pro at finger painting...ha!

We started with the popsicle, which he loved! He's had bites of popsicles before but not one of his own to enjoy by himself.

We then moved on to finger painting! I just splattered some red and blue paint on the paper, with hopes that he would then continue smearing with his fingers.
^^^^As you can see, he licked it...mmmmm!^^^^
^^^^Smeared it in some fruit puree that he spilled on the grass.^^^^
^^^^And finally decided to use his fingers!^^^^

After that, it was time to get clean, and water the plants!

I'm promising myself that we will have a lot more messy fun soon...just not today.

Cantaloupe

Thursday, June 19, 2014

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 24 Weeks (6/16/2014)
Size of Baby: 11.8 inches and about 12.7 ounces.  Right now our baby is the size of a cantaloupe!
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +/- 17 pounds
Maternity Clothes: YEP! Except for a few tops.
Gender: GIRL!! Still working on her name.
Movement: I feel her off and on throughout the day now.  Still waiting for Sean to be able to feel her, neither of us are quite patient enough, ha!
Food Cravings: Still sweets! One of my favorite snacks at night is popcorn with chocolate chips sprinkled in, so good!
Food Aversions: No aversions, but I did have a tough time last night deciding if anything sounded good. It could have had something to do with the bag of M&M's I had in the afternoon.
What I Miss: I could have really gone for a "drink" this week.  Instead I indulged in chocolate milk...just not the same.
Sleep: Still sleeping pretty well.
Symptoms: Started experiencing Braxton hicks contractions this week.  They usually occur 2-3 times a day.
Best Moment This Week: A lot of swim time with my boy!
What I'm Looking Forward to: Seeing the slab poured for the addition in a few days, it's starting to look a little more like something.

Favorite Things {9-12 Months}

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

A little behind but didn't want to leave out Wyatt's favorite toys for 9-12 months!

1.  FISHER PRICE LAUGH & LEARN LOVE TO PLAY PUPPY - Wyatt actually received this toy for Christmas but re-discovered it this Spring.  He really enjoys the songs!  We actually just keep it in the car now, just in case we need something for entertainment.
2. MAGNETS - We don't actually have these magnets but we may soon! Wyatt loves magnets! He loves walking around trying to figure out what's magnetic and not.
3. PARK - We really enjoyed the park this spring, so much that we had his party there.  We haven't been as much lately because it's so miserably hot.
4. WASHING MACHINE - How cute is this toy washing machine?!! Again, we don't have this, but Wyatt loves our washing machine.  He's a great helper when it comes to putting clothes in and taking them out.
5. RADIO FLYER 4 IN 1 TRIKE - He received this a few weeks before his birthday and still loves it! It's really nice to not have to use the stroller all the time. Plus, I think he stays a lot cooler in this than the stroller since it's open.

You can also check out Wyatt's other favorite things {0-3 MONTHS} {3-6 MONTHS} {6-9 MONTHS}.

Our Week of VBS {OUR WEEK OF SEPARATION}

Monday, June 16, 2014

This week was a busy, stressful week for this guy and his mama!
We had VBS this week at church and I was in charge of teaching the science class...for three hours each day.  Now, I know I'm a teacher, but I haven't been on my feet all day like that in over a year.  Plus, the entire time I was constantly thinking about Wyatt and worrying about how he was doing.

Monday was by far the hardest day.  It was Wyatt's first day without a morning nap, plus he was away from mama! Then I had to wake him up early from his afternoon nap because we had a doctor's appointment for Sissy....whew!

Tuesday was a little better, at least I didn't have everyone telling me he was crying all day.  Plus, he got his afternoon nap, he slept a good 2.5 hours!

Wednesday was, by far, Wyatt's worst day.  I'm not sure why, but I think the week had just caught up with him.  The church served lunch everyday for the volunteers and he wouldn't even eat anything before we headed home.
And this is what I found when I opened the car door at home....poor guy.

I was really worried Thursday morning.  He woke up about an hour early and was really fussy when we left the house.  We prayed in the car on the way to church that he would have a good day (for both of us!), and he did! It was a great day all day, I was so relieved!

Friday, it's safe to say, he was finally fully adjusted to the nursery and he was officially broke of his morning nap...for now at least.

And the best part....look at how adorable his tool belt is!!

This week was so good for Wyatt and I, even as hard as it was. I'm hoping we're going to try out the Mother's Day Out on Thursdays this summer, at least a few times. He'll start pre-school 2 days a week in the fall so we definitely need to keep practicing being apart, ha!
