It's the Little Things | I Love

Wednesday, April 29, 2015

With the Wyatt having just turned two, there are some things I really want to remember about him at this time in his life.

...how you hug me from behind when I'm sitting down.
...that blowing kisses is your way of saying goodbye, to anyone.
...how every time we drive by the railroad track, and the train isn't there, you ask "Where'd it go?"
...that your form of dancing is jumping in circles.
...it when you "fall" down and one kiss fixes everything. And your fake cry is perfect.
...when you try to drum like daddy.
...that your form of playing with Stella is trying to sit on her.
...that you have no interest in apps, you just want music on mama's phone.
...how you say "There ya' go!" when we finally figure out what you want.
...that you ask "Where'd it go?" for everything, and we never have a clue about what you're looking for.
...that as soon as daddy comes home you immediately point to the door and say yell, "GO!". (Not that you want him to go but you want him to take you somewhere.)
...how when you want a kiss you lean your head in for your forehead to be kissed.

I really don't want to forget this phase of your life. Yes, days are hard with frustrations but there are so many good things that happen everyday.

Farewell to "Paci"

Tuesday, April 28, 2015

I mentioned the other day that we said goodbye to Wyatt's pacifier over the weekend. We had made the decision a while back that when Wyatt turned two we would take it away. When he turned one we started only letting him have it when he slept.

He's done really well without having it, much better than I thought he would. He does tend to fight bedtime and naptime a little more than he used to, but only for a few minutes.

Honestly, it may have been harder on me saying goodbye to paci. Don't worry, I kept it. It just makes the whole "growing up" thing more real. He's such a big boy and this mama's not quite ready for that.

He still has "Lion" so he still uses him to soothe himself.  We call "Lion" his best friend, they're pretty inseparable. He may take him to Kindergarten with him but that's ok, I can deal.

Wyatt's Birthday Weekend

Monday, April 27, 2015

Over the weekend our baby boy turned 2! Most of our weekend was spent celebrating him and the fun will continue next weekend when we have his party. Why not have it this weekend? Last year, when Wyatt turned one, we decided that we would always spend our children's birthdays as just us, so that's just what we did this year too.

Friday was a pretty typical day for us. It was rainy, we went to the store, and did the usual. When bedtime came we decided it was a good night to try and take Wyatt's pacifier away. Sean has been very adamant that when Wyatt turned two he would have to give up the paci. We only let him use it when he sleeps so we weren't real sure how it would go. Wyatt did great. He still has "Lion" so he was able to soothe himself by rubbing him on his face. I was a little nervous that he would wake up in the middle of the night looking for him, but he didn't. Night one was a success!

Saturday morning we all got up and around and headed to Little Rock. We had decided a couple weeks ago that we would take Wyatt to the Museum of Discover to celebrate his special day, even though it wasn't until Sunday. (Something else we decided last year, instead of buying our children something for their birthdays we would take them some place fun for their day of celebration. Last year we went to the ZOO.)

Wyatt had the best time! Some of the exhibits weren't age appropriate but he had the best time just running...and running...and running. It was so nice knowing that he was in a safe place where he could go, go, go and couldn't break anything. Honestly, I'm pretty sure his favorite thing was the entrance ramp but it was well worth the money.

We were there about two hours and then walked down the street to eat lunch. We were a little nervous about eating in public since Wyatt can be a bit rambunctious, plus he was tired, but he did awesome! We scarfed our food down as quickly as possible and got out before any chaos ensued. We then headed to the car, grabbed some Jimmy John's (to take home for dinner), and started the drive home. Unfortunately Wyatt was a little over-stimulated and ended up not taking a nap so it was an early bed time for all.

Sunday morning (BIRTHDAY MORNING!!!) we greeted our boy with cards and cinnamon rolls. He thoroughly enjoyed his cinnamon rolls and was even able to blow out his two candles! Sean was going to help him but he did it before daddy could. We then got ready and headed to church.

We spent the rest of the day napping and playing. Then we finished out the night with some cheesecake, another tradition that was started last year.

It was the perfect weekend to celebrate our special TWO year old!!

TWO YEARS!!

Sunday, April 26, 2015

Wyatt,
Our sweet, precious Wyatt. Where has all the time gone baby boy? It's so hard for me to believe that you're now a two year old. Even though you'll always be my baby, I feel like now you're really not a baby; you're now officially becoming a little boy. You are so independent and have really gotten into a phase where you enjoy doing everything on your own. You have also become so affectionate. You will run up and give kisses without prompting, and you love to hug me from behind if I'm sitting down. We love you, and the little boy you're becoming!  Happy birthday, baby!

What you did this month:
  • You weigh 30 pounds and are about 36 inches tall.
  • You are wearing size 6 diapers.
  • You wear size 24M/2T in pants and 2T/3T in shirts and pajamas.
  • Your favorite foods right now are turkey (lunch meat), bread, Nature Valley breakfast bars, and Go-gurt, but you'll eat just about anything we put in front of you.
  • You usually wake up between 7:30 & 8, take a nap around one for about 2.5 hours, and go down at night around 8.
  • You can say "mou" (which could be music, Mickey Mouse, Mimi, movie, basically all of your favorite things start with 'm'), "mowr" (more), "where'ditgo" (Where'd it go?), "go", "dat" (that or cat), "jew" (juice), "no", "uh-oh", "what'sat?" (what's that), "dow" (down),  "yeth"/"ya" (yes), "where did dey do?" (Where did they go?), "det do" (let's go), "no'kyou" (no thank you), "go, go" (Paw Patrol), "wee, weeeee"(which can also mean swing), "there ya' go" (used in place of thank you or when he gets something he wants), "I go", "we go", "co" (cold), "hmmm, let's see", "sthick" (music)
  • 18(ish) teeth...I'm pretty sure you're teething now but I'm not sure which teeth are coming in; they're in the back.
  • You can point to your nose, mouth, eyes, ears, bellybutton, hair, feet, teeth, and hands on command.
  • You are starting to make more sounds. Cat (mow), duck (cack, cack), elephant, car (vroom), train (woo-woo)
  • You have started copying what we say more. My favorite is hearing you try and sing your ABCs.
  • You automatically start dancing when you hear music, which means you start jumping in circles. If we're in the car then you clap your hands.
  • You are getting really good at putting on your own clothes. You can put pajama pants and socks on. You also love to wear your hat...and it's usually crooked.
  • You had a couple of days this month where I thought you were potty training yourself. It only lasted a few days and I didn't push it beyond that. We'll really focus on it in a couple of weeks, if you're ready.
  • You absolutely love to be in the car. You'll pretty much do anything if it means you get to go in the car.
  • We celebrated Easter this month and you really got into Easter egg hunts. And you really enjoyed the gifts you received in your Easter basket.
  • We started attending church again this month and you have done great in the nursery! It really helps that it's in the same room as your MDO class.
  • Your daddy and I took you to the Museum of Discovery for your birthday and you loved it! You really just enjoyed running around, and we liked that there wasn't anything there for you to break.

{Five} Favorite Moments of the Week

Friday, April 24, 2015

HEY, FRIDAY!!
I'm so happy it's finally Friday! It's been quite the doozy of a week around here and I'm looking forward to some good ol' family time! We have some big plans for our birthday boy, can't wait to share them with y'all on Monday!

{ONE}
We've had a couple of play-dates this past week with one of the only little girl in Wyatt's class. Apparently they've enjoyed their time together because rumor has it they've been flirting in class. Ha! What?? I had no idea it started so young!

{TWO}
I finally started working on Wyatt's second birthday party...that's next week. Yea, I need to get busy. I'm pretty pleased at what's been done so far. I'm trying to keep myself from going too overboard. And, if you couldn't tell, the theme is Mickey Mouse.

{THREE}
This little girl is my new BFF. Seriously, she's so fun! Even though she's really trying to grow up too fast.

{FOUR}
If you missed it, this week I was featured on COCKTAILS AND CARSEATS for Jamie's Marital Bliss series. Such a fun series, you should definitely check it out!

{FIVE}
I can't even handle it, y'all!! My baby boy is going to turn TWO on Sunday. We have some big plans for this weekend with our little guy. Hoping he enjoys it!

 Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend!!

{FIVE} Favorite Moments of the Week

Friday, April 17, 2015

Thank you everyone for the kind words from Mondays post. We have gotten some rest this week which has been helpful. Wyatt's door issue has been figured out and little Miss is getting back on her nightly sleeping schedule. Here are our favorite moments from the week!

{ONE}
This sweet girl turned 6 months old over the weekend and I finally got around to posting her MONTHLY UPDATE. I don't know where the time has gone, but I'm sure working hard on keeping her little for as long as possible.

{TWO}
I shared about these two and their love for one another the other day in the LITTLE THINGS link-up.

{THREE}
Yesterday we were able to play outside in the water hose for the first time this season. Wyatt loved it just as much, although the water was a little chilly.

{FOUR}
1 | Cool dude
2 | Redneck woman, anyone?
3 | Sticks make for wonderful cleaning tools.
4 | Squirmy little girl is gettin' somewhere.

 {FIVE}
 The other day I shared some tips for managing those TODDLER TANTRUMS. Make sure to check them out!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! We don't really have anything planned. Maybe some furniture shopping? We'll see. What are y'all up to?

It's the Little Things | Brotherly Love

Wednesday, April 15, 2015

The other day I was so agitated. Wyatt had made a pretty big mess that I was trying to clean up (and trying to stay calm since it was part my fault) and Stella was, of course, crying and wanting to be held. I put Stella in Wyatt's room; she usually stays pretty calm because there's a lot to grab and look at. She wasn't having it though. So after a minute or two I asked Wyatt to go sit with Sissy to help her not cry. After a couple minutes of quiet I went and checked on them, and this is what I found. (Yes, I bolted across the house for my camera without Wyatt noticing. A small miracle in itself.)

 I just love the little relationship that's growing between them. He makes her so happy and she always works so hard for his attention. I hope they always have such a close and loving relationship.
 Oh, don't worry, Wyatt still doesn't like to share with her. And Stella's idea of fun is when he's sitting on her or trying to lay on her. But I'm just so thankful for Wyatt's sweet heart and how he knows that for some reason she is so special; he doesn't know yet but he will soon enough.

I love them so much. And for a minute I was able to forget was I was so agitated about just seconds before.
