Thanksgiving Decor

Wednesday, November 27, 2013

For the first time, ever, Sean, Wyatt, and I are spending Thanksgiving in Camden.  The three of us have a lot planned, watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade, eating a small feast, and I'm sure watching some football.  Since I knew we were going to be here I didn't want to start decorating for Christmas.  So, thanks to Lauren Haddox, I was able to do some Thanksgiving decorating instead.

7 Months!!

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

Wyatt,
Our little Pea-pie! This by far the hardest month for me.  I think it's just the realization that you're closer to 12 months than you are to a newborn.  You're growing so much everyday.  We keep looking at you, and you're looking more and more like a little boy instead of a baby.  You're still our happy boy. We're looking forward to this next month and celebrating your first Holiday season! We love you so much, baby boy!

What you did this month:
  • You are wearing size 3 diapers.  We tried the Pampers 12-hour protection but I still prefer the Swaddlers.
  • You are wearing size 6-12 months and 9/12 months clothes.
  • You weigh 19 pounds and I'm guessing you're around 29" long.
  • You are nursing every 2-3 hours during the day.
  • You eat solids for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Your favorite foods are apples, pears, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and peas & carrots.
  • You are going to bed around 9 and waking up 1 time a night.  We start our days around 8:30.
  • You are taking naps at 10, 1:30, and catnap around 5.
  • You are now sitting up on your own, and you can go from sitting to lying on your belly.
  • You are rolling all over the place.  One night, while we were watching TV, you rolled across the living room.
  • You enjoy sitting in your Bumbo seat while I cook dinner.  We usually sing songs.
  • You love your board books, especially Brown Bear, Brown Bear.
  • Still no teeth, but I think they're coming soon.
  • We celebrated your first Halloween. You were dressed as a Chick-fil-A cow.

Our weekend

Sami's Shenanigans
{Friday}

Sean worked Friday morning and was off the rest of the weekend. That's very exciting because that hasn't happened in months. Also, it was a rainy afternoon so that meant no golf, yay! So, to kill time, we spent the afternoon in El Dorado and went to TJ Maxx, Home Depot, and of course, Larry's Pizza. We're going to a wedding next weekend (more details on that later....so excited!!) and I had to get a new fall/winter dress. I found a great dress, for a great price! I love how they leave the original tag on clothes at TJ Maxx so you can really see how much you're saving! This dress was originally $118, yea, that would've never happened.

Dinner at Larry's was a little crazy. We ate with about 100 cheerleaders that were in town for the football game. Can you say loud?? This picture doesn't even do it justice, they were on their way out at this point.

We ended the night with two movies from redbox, The Internship & The Way Way Back. I enjoyed them both. I must say, I've never seen Steve Carell play such an obnoxious character as he did in TWWB, but I still enjoyed it.

{Saturday}

We spent pretty much all day Saturday in our pjs. We enjoyed watching football and just being lazy.  The Hogs almost pulled out a win in OT but no such luck. Maybe next week? Oh, wait....no, probably not. Oh, well, we still love our razorbacks!

I made Sean's favorite breakfast, BLT's. Most people don't know this, but his mom used to make home one every morning for breakfast before school. Let's just say, I haven't quite lived up to that standard, but I think he's managing just fine.

{Sunday}

Sunday was a random day. We did a little cleaning around the house in the morning. Sean made hash browns and ribs for lunch, odd combination, but I wasn't complaining. The afternoon was absolutely freezing but Candi, so kindly, fulfilled my wishes and captured some family photos of us. They turned out so well. I'm just happy to have some pictures of the three of us! Here's a little peek of our little man.

We finished up the weekend with, what, more pizza & Walking Dead.

Now I'm just hoping the roads clear up enough so Mimi can make it down!!

five on friday {give thanks}

Friday, November 22, 2013

With Thanksgiving less than a week away, my FIVE for today are all about giving thanks.  I could probably do a list of at least 20 things I'm thankful for, but I'll keep it to just five.

--one--
First and foremost, I'm so thankful for my husband.  I know so many think I should probably put Wyatt here, but I feel my husband should always be first.  That's hard to remember when I have someone else who depends on me for everything at this point in his little life, but I do try.  I'm so thankful for how hard he works for us.  He has allowed me the ability to do what I've always wanted, be home with our child(ren). I'm thankful for how much he loves Wyatt, he's such a good daddy (of course, I never had any doubts).  He's such an amazing man.

--two--
I'm thankful for my sweet baby boy.  He's rocked my world, for the better, of course.  I'm thankful I get to wake up every morning to his wonderful voice.  He makes each day new and exciting.  I'm thankful that I'm able to experience all of his milestones with him.  I'm so blessed that God chose me to be his mama.

--three--
I'm thankful for my mom.  She plays the role of "mom" to so many, but I'm so glad that she is mine.  I'm thankful that she now has an iPhone 5 and we can Face Time at any moment. I'm thankful for how much she loves our little boy, I think she forgets that he's not actually hers. I'm thankful for the times that we get to spend together, even if they're not as often as we'd like.

--four--
I'm thankful for my family.  Everyone.  I don't think I ever knew how loved I was until Wyatt was born (I mean that in a good way). I'm thankful for how much everyone loves our boy.  I'm thankful that Christmas is coming and we'll be able to see everyone soon.

--five--
I'm thankful for my friends, near & far.  I don't think I would have made it through the past 6 (almost 7) months without them.  Thank you for the dinners, the unending list of questions, and the nights out (always when I needed it most).

Who Needs a Babysitter??

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

Sean and I have finally come to the conclusion that, before too long, we're going to have to find a babysitter....someone besides my mom. Up until this point I've pretty much put the blame on Sean for not hiring someone yet.  But as his company Christmas party gets closer and closer, I find myself terrified of leaving Wyatt with someone.  As a teacher, it's like having a substitute in your classroom, only 100x more scary.  I know, I've read just about every article I could find.  Find someone, have them come over to meet & play with Wyatt, and then pick a night for a short babysitting session....all preparing them both for the big night.

I have an entire list of concerns that run through my head when I think of leaving him.  What if he doesn't take his bottle?  What if he cries the entire time?  What if he doesn't sleep?  What if.....what if......what if???  I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that everything will be fine, it's not like we'll be hours away.  I'm also going to have to relax and lower my expectations for a night.  It'll be just fine if he stays up, rocking in the recliner, while watching TV.....as long as he's happy.

If anyone has any words of wisdom for this stressed out mama, please share!  I'll be working on my babysitter information checklist.

5 on friday {brain dump}

Friday, November 15, 2013

My FIVE for today are just a bit of randomness from my phone.  It's been quite a week and I'm just glad it's almost over!

--one--
I'm pretty crazy about this little guy. My world pretty much revolves around him at this point in my life, and I'm okay with that.  And, as you can see, Ollie doesn't get too far....or he just likes the blanket.

--two--
I made my first pumpkin pie a couple of weeks ago.  It was when the weather finally started cooling off, and it just seemed like a good idea. Sean certainly didn't mind that I made it.

--three--
Found this ice cream in the store one day and was pretty excited about it!  Wyatt has a bit of a milk allergy and ice cream is my favorite thing on the planet, not a good combination.  It tasted fine, I just had to try not to smell it.

--four--
I don't know if you've seen the commercials for this but I'm super excited about it!  Carrie Underwood is doing a live version of The Sound of Music on Thursday, December 5th.  I had to text a screenshot to my mom.  We'll be watching it together, from afar.

--five--
And last, but not least, my friend Candi is going to do some pictures for us this weekend! I'm really hoping we get a couple of frame-ables!  Of course, I scowered Pinterest looking for the perfect poses.

That's what's going on around here for now. Link-up with Darci & the gals and share your FIVE for today!
