our 630th weekend

Monday, September 30, 2013

Sean and I spent our approximately 630th weekend together.  Our first weekend together, ever, was spent celebrating his 18th birthday, and this weekend we celebrated his 30th birthday.  It's so crazy to me how fast time flies.  We've been together 12 years, I mean come on, that's almost half of my entire life.
It was a low-key weekend, just how he likes it.  My 30th birthday, I hope we at least go out to dinner.  Of course I gave him to option of getting a sitter, going out, and having a quiet meal together.  But no, he just wanted to order a pizza and watch the game.  He's so funny. I, also, would not spend my birthday weekend outside doing, what I call, work. But, Sean spent a majority of his day working in the yard and taking dirt to our neighbors.  I love him.
This was probably the first occasion, in I don't know how long, where I was actually able to surprise him a little.  He had no idea, I don't think, what he was getting.  He's the kind of person who will spend $100's of dollars on me for all occasions, but when I try to spend money on him he tells me not to.  Plus, he also is the type to where if he wants something...he buys it.  Leaves a bit of a small wish list for me to choose from.  But, I did order him some new canvas prints of his favorite little person for his new office and surprised him with an Amazon gift card.  Amazon Prime will be the death of him. There's no telling what will show up at our house on any given day.
Every year, it's definitely not a surprise anymore, I drive to Magnolia (a town about 30 minutes away) and get him a Dairy Queen ice cream cake.  Now, if you've never had one...get one! THEY.ARE.HEAVENLY.
If you couldn't tell by the name, they have ice cream and cookie in the middle.  You can choose any kind of ice cream that Dairy Queen offers, I chose Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough this year and it did not disappoint!
We rounded the weekend out with dinner from....Sonic.  I told you, I married the most simple man on the planet! But, in case you were wondering, their chicken strip dinner are back and delicious as ever!

Oh, and if you were wondering about Wyatt's craft time, here it is!! Better than I could have imagined!

Friday is HERE!!! We have some great plans for this weekend and can't wait to get it started. I'll kick it off with Darci & the gals for 5 on Friday!!

--one--
It's been a long couple of days around our house.  Wyatt's been....well, we're not sure what it is.  Not sure if it's a cold or teething.  Maybe both?? My sweet friend, Rachel (you'll hear more about her in a minute!), was so sweet and brought me some peach water from Sonic.  And let me tell you, if you haven't had peach water, OMGosh, it's delicious!

--two--
Speaking of Rachel, we were at her house for a bit on Saturday and Sunday.  Sean's been helping her husband do some work on their home.  Her sweet baby girl, O, and Wyatt had a great time playing together. I love to see babies playing together.  Wyatt was pretty fascinated with O.

--three--
We have had a couple of craft days this week. I can't share with y'all exactly what we we've done....someone might be reading...but it's been fun! I had to hurry and snap a picture before Wyatt got his feet in his mouth...he's such a mess.

--four--
We've spent several hours the past few days cuddling.  Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? is definitely Wyatt's favorite book.  He loves the illustrations...so cute!

5 months!!

Thursday, September 26, 2013

Wyatt,
Precious baby boy, you melt my heart each day with the things you do. You make me feel a happiness that I never knew was possible.  I think that each new thing you do is amazing, and I think you're a genius. You have your daddy and I wrapped around your little finger, and we wouldn't have it any other way.  We love you baby boy!

What you did this month:
  • You are wearing size 3 diapers.
  • You are wearing size 6/9 months and some 9/12 months clothes.
  • You weigh 19 pounds and I'm guessing you're around 29" long.
  • You are eating every 2-3 hours during the day.
  • Your schedule has changed this month...you eat before naps and when you wake up.
  • You are still going to bed around 8 and waking up 1-2 times a night.  We start our days between 7 & 8.
  • You are taking naps at 9:30, 1:30, and a catnap around 5.
  • You are holding your head up really well.  You are even straightening your arms.
  • You have started belly laughing! It makes your Da-Da and I laugh.
  • You have started eating solids this month.  You started with rice cereal , then avocado, sweet potato, and now carrots.  You love to eat and try to eat our food too!
  • You went out of state, to Texas, for the first time.  You also went to the zoo for the first time while there.
  • You love to play in your crib.  You can keep yourself busy for a good 30 minutes in the mornings.  You have learned to turned sideways and kick your music box until it magically plays music.
  • You love to suck on your toes and bounce on my lap.
  • You had to take Gripe Water for the first time for an upset tummy.
  • You are starting to sit up some on your own.
  • You love all things electronic - phones, iPad, remotes...
  • You also love mama's hair!

Thankful

As Wyatt and I were on our walk this morning I couldn't help but be so thankful for where I'm at right now in my life.  The decision to stay home was hard, is hard. But as I watched everyone getting in their cars and heading off to their jobs, I was reminded of how thankful I am for my job.
Ever since I can remember, when I thought about having children, I knew I wanted to stay home.  I'm not really even sure why.  Before, honestly, I probably thought everyday would be spent picking flowers and having picnics.  Obviously I've come a long way from thinking that.  We definitely have amazing days. Days that I'll think about and remember forever.  But we also have our fair share of why did we even get out of bed today days.
Today is my baby boy's five month birthday.  It's really hard to grasp how fast time is moving and how much he is growing everyday.  When I went to write his monthly update I even wrote 4 months and almost didn't even catch the mistake. It's definitely been the best five months of my life.  I'm so thankful that God blessed me with this amazing little person in my life.

Our Little Nest

Today is all about meal planning! I'll be honest I'm not much of a meal planner...but I'm gonna' try and be! I was hanging out with one of my girlfriends, Rachel, this weekend and she was showing me all of the meals she has planned for the entire MONTH!  At first I thought, NO WAY was I going to be able to do that!  Then, as I listened to her tell me how it was saving her grocery money, I thought, maybe I can try that.  After all,  I am pret-ty frugal. So I came up with a little calendar that I can write out my meal plans on each month. And I thought y'all may want a copy too...so here it is! I apologize in advance for the PDF not being editable...I'm not reeeeal computer savvy.

The inspiration:
OK, so you may remember these pj's that I bought a few weeks ago? Well, they have been the inspiration for my party planning. I love the colors, the airplane theme...everything!  And, it seems like everyone else has had the same ideas too! Definitely makes my job easier.

This game looks so cute! They have paper planes for the kids to put together and decorate.  Then kids can throw them through the hoola-hoops.  Keep 'em busy, am I right!

ktma: go-to gear

Thursday, September 19, 2013

I'm linking up for the last day of Kid Tested, Mom Approved.  I've loved this link-up! I've gotten so many great ideas and I've enjoyed sharing my little bit of knowledge.  Today is all about go-to gear in our house!

1. Our MOTOROLA DIGITAL MONITOR is quite the life-saver in this household.  We can't go too long without seeing our little guy.  My mom will even call and ask to see him sleeping.  Please tell me we're not alone here?!!

2. The DIAPER GENIE definitely keeps our home from completely smelling like a pigsty!

3. We use SwaddleMe swaddles every night!  We call it "swaddling for dummies" and, well, we're dummies! Once Wyatt started sleeping with his arms out, I started to Velcro it under his arms.  I can't let him go to sleep without any kind of a blanket.

4. I use our BRITAX STROLLER pretty much everyday! Wyatt loves to go on morning walks...and my booty definitely needs it!  I love the 3 wheels, as apposed to the 4, it's so easy to maneuver.

5. We've just recently started using the FISHER PRICE BOOSTER SEAT.  We don't have a huge house so I like that it's one less thing taking up space.  And I like that it pulls right up to the table so our little guy can sit with us.

Link up and share your go-to gear!
