{FIVE} Favorite Moments of the Week

Friday, February 19, 2016

Well, I'm back for 5 on Friday...I'm actually just continuing the one that I started and meant to post last week. Such is life.

{ONE}
This sweet girl had a "birthday" yesterday last week, her 16 month. We celebrated with lots of playtime outside since the weather was absolutely perfect!

Stella's Loves: Paci, swinging, brother's boots, daddy, Mickey & Minnie, saying "scuse you", babies, jumping, music & dancing, and food (especially if it contains sugar).
Stella's Hates: Grass?? (please notice the picture above), getting her diaper changed, showers, being told "no".

{TWO}
Wyatt had his Valentine's Day party at school yesterday last Thursday. Of course, the only thing he ate was the Little Debbie snack cakes. And Stella enjoyed a huge heart-shaped rice-krispy treat. You can guarantee we went to the park after all that sugar.

I always love seeing him in his school environment and playing with his little friends.

THREE}
Speaking of Valentine's Day, we made cookies and did a little keepsake craft.

 {FOUR}
The weather this week has been absolutely amazing...I'm talking t-shirt weather. Flowers are in bloom and I'm just hoping it's here to stay. We've been spending mornings, afternoons, and evenings outside. And in case you need a new idea, he ya' go!

{FIVE}
And just a little fun from Stella!

Our Valentine's Day Weekend

Monday, February 15, 2016

Our Valentine's celebrations started on Thursday with Wyatt's Valentine party at school. Wyatt and Stella enjoyed lots of yummy treats and some play time with friends.

Saturday we divided and conquered. I took Stella and went grocery shopping, while daddy & Wyatt went to dump trash and eat.

Sean and I snuck out Saturday afternoon for a BBQ dinner. And what's a dinner date without ice cream?? We definitely overstuffed ourselves. We ended the night with The Martian, which was a great movie!

Sunday we spent the entire day in our jammies at home. Wyatt hasn't been feeling 100% (running a fever and all) so we enjoyed lots of rest with our little valentines.

I made Sean a little gift to show "where we met", "where we got engaged", and "where we got married". And Sean surprised me with a new phone...that will be here soon! Literally, half of my screen doesn't work on my current phone. Oops.

We ended the night with TWD. I mean come on, doesn't that scream Valentine's Day??! But really, it was perfection!

The Kids Behind the Blog || Volume One

Wednesday, February 10, 2016

I'm so excited about this new monthly link-up hosted by some great mamas! Every month they will provide 5 questions to ask your little one(s), then you can share their answers & link up!

This months answers are coming from Wyatt (33.5 months).

1. Where is your favorite place to go?
Mimi's house

2. Who is your best (favorite) friend?
Wyatt: A puppy.
Mama: Baby, we don't have a puppy.

"Nitney" (Mrs. Brittany--his teacher)

3. If you could be a superhero, what would your superpower be?
Sky/fly sound very much alike coming from Wyatt, so he definitely wants to be flying around in the sky.

4. What is your favorite candy?
This was a tough one for Wyatt. He kept asking about our friend, Ms. Candi, and then he wanted to go to her house. He doesn't eat a ton of candy but he's never been given anything he wouldn't eat--suckers, Skittles, chocolate, peppermint kisses, etc.

5. Who is your Valentine?
Mama: Buddy, who do you love?
Wyatt: Mommy
Mama: Awe, I love you too.

This was so much fun! I can't wait to continue this through the year and see how grows in language development!

Tuesday Talk: Our Love Story

Tuesday, February 9, 2016

I'm joining Beth, and the other hostesses, for Tuesday Talk. Today is all about Love Stories and I really couldn't pass up a chance to share ours! We have been together for 15 years this fall, so I tried to consolidate as much as possible.

Our love story stared in August of 2001. It was the first day of my sophomore year, first year in high school, and I was all full of jitters. I walked into my 3rd hour class, Journalism with Mrs. White. As I walked into the classroom I was greeted with a, "What's up guurl?", by some guy I'd never met, or even seen before.

Over the course of the next month I slowly got to know this guy (who was a Senior and really did not want to be in that Journalism class) and his name was Sean. He was a bit of a troublemaker and was always causing a scene and making our class laugh.

September 28, 2001 was our first "date". We met at our high school football game that Friday night and then went for pizza with two of his friends. We became "official" boyfriend & girlfriend on October 5, 2001, and were pretty inseparable from that point on.

One of our first pictures together--December 2001

In 2008 we took a 2 week trip out West through New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and South Dakota. On our first night at The Grand Canyon Sean proposed to me, and of course, I said yes.

 In May of 2009 we both graduated with our Master's Degrees.

And about 3 weeks later, June 6, 2009, we were finally married!

Our two greatest achievements came in the form of our children. Wyatt was born on April 26, 2013. And we were surprised in February of 2014 to learn that we were pregnant again; Stella was born later that year on October 11.

We have pretty much done everything together in the last 14.5 years, and we've had a lot of fun doing it!

 We attended three proms together.
Sean's senior prom in 2002, my junior prom in 2003, and my senior prom in 2004.

 We have celebrated Halloweens together.

We have attended a ton of concerts.
All American Rejects--2003

Linkin Park--2004

Nine Inch Nails--2006

Justin Timberlake--2007

Brad Paisley--2008

Luke Bryan--2012
???--2013 (Wyatt's 1st Concert)
Deftones & Incubus--2015

We have traveled together...a lot. From Texas to Illinois, Vancouver to Florida, we've seen a lot!

Honeymooon--Cumberland Island--2009

Chicago--July 2015
Vancouver & Seattle--June/July 2011
Atlanta--April 2012
Perdido Key--July 2012
And lots & lots & lots & lots of trips to visit family!!

We've also spent the past 7 years working on our home. From small room renovations to a 700 sq.ft. addition, which included a den and master suite.

We have encountered a lot of highs and a lot of lows in the years we have been together, but I would not change a thing about our love story. I can't wait to see what else God has planned for our love story in the future.
