Fall | 2015

Wednesday, November 25, 2015

Last week I took the kiddos out to get some Christmas card photos. It only took us about 2 hours and 2 different locations, but we were finally able to nail some great shots.

Wyatt's Thanksgiving Feast | 2015

Tuesday, November 24, 2015

We had Wyatt's Thanksgiving Day Feast at his school last Thursday. To say the "party" was stressful would be an understatement, although it was slightly better than last year.
 Wyatt walked around with his class for the first two activities and then was completely over it and ready to eat. Oh, but it wasn't technically time to eat but I wasn't about to fight that battle. On top of that I also had to keep up with our little social butterfly. Large crowds really do not bother Stella at all, which I'm not sure is a good or bad thing.
 Thankfully one of the teachers gladly took Stella to eat with her class while I tried to keep Wyatt from having a complete meltdown in front of everyone.
 Stella also enjoyed chasing her "bf" around, which he was not quite sure about. Although he did try to give her a kiss which turned into a headbutt...ah, young love.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! We're preparing for some of Sean's family to come down for the a couple of days. YAY for free childcare! ;)

{FIVE} Favorite Moments of the Week

Friday, November 13, 2015

{ONE}
First off, I want to say a big THANK YOU to all of you for all the prayers and kind words you sent my way after Tuesdays post. You all are so sweet and it really means a lot that you took the time to reach out.

{TWO}
We went on a walk on Sunday. Do your walks look like this?? We can only let Wyatt ride his "gator" when daddy's with us because I can't keep up...and in case there are any maintenance issues. Ha!

{THREE}
This big girl is now 13 months old and I can't even believe it. She's little miss independent, and bossy as usual. She had her one year check-up this today and she's as healthy as can be and we are so thankful!

{FOUR}
Wyatt had his school pictures this week and I can't wait to see them! I'm hoping the photographer was able to get one of him that's not blurry...because I can't. I've had him busy with Fall crafting this week. We have company coming for Thanksgiving so we are not skipping the Thanksgiving decorations. And we also stopped to feed the "reindeer" at the local vet clinic this week.

{FIVE}
We have made the decision to give our "puppy" Angel a new home. We've had her for 6 years and it's not going to be easy, but it's what's best for her and us. We've been discussing it since Stella was born and God made this the perfect timing for us. Angel is actually going back to her previous owner and I couldn't be more excited. She is a dear family friend and I know Angel will get all the attention and love that she deserves.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy this beautiful fall weather while it lasts!

Stella's One Year Photos

Thursday, November 12, 2015

So, I just realized I never shared these; here's a bright spot for your Thursday!

I still can't even believe our baby girl is ONE; it just doesn't seem possible. She's walking all over the place and being her usual bossy self. Just in the last two weeks she's also been working on about four more teeth.

Psalm 116:15

Tuesday, November 10, 2015

You may (or may not) have noticed that it's been a little quiet around here the past week. Most of you probably knew that I was doing some fundraising these past couple months for a dear friend of mine who was battling ovarian/liver cancer. A little over a month ago the doctors in Houston told her there was nothing else they could do and sent her home to be surrounded by family and friends. It's been a tough week, she died last Tuesday.

It's just so weird to think about. I really didn't know Christy outside of school. We met the summer before I started teaching and she was such a mentor for me in the four years that I taught. She was my best friend at school. I always went to her for guidance and feedback. We planned together. When we had summer PD we always went to eat together. I haven't been up to the school since she died (I've been up there quite a bit recently) and that's really going to be tough. School was her, it was her identity. She never had children and all of her students were her babies. She loved what she did and she was so good at it.

There are some plans in the works for her to be memorialized in a new outdoor classroom that's being created at our school. I can't think of a better place for her to be remembered. She touched so many lives in her many years in the classroom.

A Day in the Life: Fall 2015

Thursday, November 5, 2015

Honestly, I can't remember the last time I did a DITL post. I'm pretty sure it was a year ago...geeze
This is our day on Wednesday, November 4th; Wyatt 2.5 & Stella 1.

7:02--Forgot I was planning to do this post today so we got started a little late. Wyatt woke me up about 6:30 and I convinced him to lay in my bed while I got in a little exercise.

8:02--Stella woke up just before 8 and she demands breakfast immediately. On the other hand, Wyatt isn't much of a breakfast person so he stayed busy "brushing his teeth". And I was finally able to get some coffee going.

9:02--Kids finished up with breakfast and I turned off the TV. We did lots of playing and reading in Wyatt's room.

10:14--Finally got Stella down for her morning nap so Wyatt and I enjoyed a little reading. (I love that he now sleeps in a bed that I can fit in!) We also did a little work on he and Stella's Christmas lists during this time.

11:17--Wyatt finally decided he was hungry and requested The Incredibles. And Stella woke up from her nap, just in time for some lunch. I worked on some Thanksgiving decorating while the kiddos ate.

1:11--Wyatt decided he wanted to go see the "choo-choo" and I needed a break from the house. After getting us ready and out the door we made it to see the "sleeping" choo-choo. Then decided to stop by a new-to-us park before heading home.

1:47--We got home and Wyatt wasn't quite ready to give in to naptime, so we headed out for a "quick" walk.

2:23--I finally got the kids down and finally grabbed myself something to eat, broccoli & a left over brisket sandwich. Then I was able to sit down and get a little work done before Stella woke up at about 3:30.

4:58--Both kids were awake and ready to eat; I'd say a snack but they ended up eating quite a bit. I started working on dinner while they were occupied for a second. Then spent the next hour trying to keep them busy, change diapers, and play referee while cooking.

6:44--Daddy was finally home and there's no one more excited than this little girl. He and I weren't that hungry so we spent the next hour playing, bathing, and getting kids in bed.

7:45--Both kids were in bed and I can finally relax on the couch for a bit. We spent the rest of our night watching TV and enjoying some adult beverages.
