Our Weekend

Monday, January 30, 2017

 Our weekend was all kinds of laid-back + sort of relaxing. Of course I say sort of, because can you really relax when there are two toddler running around??
 But we definitely had some fun.

It started Friday night when daddy finally got Wyatt's new-to-us go-cart running. It's actually the same go-cart I grew up riding at my grandparent's. Fun huh?! I think he's going to love it...well, he and daddy. It's a tad bit faster than we thought.

Saturday morning was pretty lazy. We played and chilled before daddy headed out to work on the playhouse. The kids and I hung inside a bit longer since it was still too cold (for mama) outside.

We got a good hour outside before heading in for lunch and naps.
Swinging. trampoline-ing, + playing.
And yes, the kids wore their jammies outside to play.

After naps + chores we all headed to the grocery store for our weekly trip. I prefer to go by myself but if I'm going to take kids then at least I have help. Sean and I watched Demolition with Jake Gyllenhaal after the kids went to bed. Seen it? It was ok, a little sad.
Sunday morning Sean cooked us a yummy breakfast before heading out the door to church. Ok, now for vote...Stella's hat + jacket:
a. adorable
b. she looks like an orphan
You can guess what her daddy said. She's adorable.
The rest of Sunday was spent being lazy...well, for the kids and I. Daddy worked on the playhouse. It's pretty impossible for him to be lazy.

How about y'all, did you have a good weekend? Do anything super exciting?

Twinkle VoxBox from Influenster

Tuesday, January 24, 2017

I will preface this by saying that I did receive all of these items for free from Influenster in exchange for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received the Twinkle VoxBox from Influenster & they sent some great goodies to try out for the winter season!

I think I was most excited about trying the Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Dry Shampoo. I've never tried a dry shampoo & with my long hair it's not always fun to wash repeatedly. I'll let you know what I think...once I try it!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Oreo Thins. I actually barely got a picture of them because I just devoured them. I actually love that they're small--easier to eat in my opinion.
I have been using the Aquation Daily Moisturizing Lotion, mostly on my legs because they get so dry, but I really like it. I'm not a big fan of scented lotions so it works for me. If you want to try it out, I know that Wal-Mart carries it.

There were some other neat products--most of which I haven't tried yet.

If you're interested in giving Influenster a try then you can follow the link here and it'll get you all set-up. Who doesn't love receiving new free products to try?!!

A Wyatt Update

Friday, January 20, 2017

If you have been following along with us over the past week then you're probably aware that Wyatt hasn't been feeling real great. Thankfully he is on the mend...I think, but I wanted to share a bit of what has gone on. Mainly for myself & to look back on later.

The last two posts I've written have included that fact that Wyatt hasn't felt well. It started on Wednesday, January 11th. He spiked a high fever + had a pretty bad cough. We went to the doctor on Thursday and were basically told to treat the fever and he would get better in a couple days.

And he did...for the most part. We laid low most of the weekend and by Tuesday he was well enough for school. He did still have a pretty rough cough but hadn't run fever since Friday.

Fast forward to Wednesday. He woke up from his nap burning hot & with a 103.1 fever. I immediately started treating the fever, giving him fluids, and contacted our doctor. While I was talking with our doctor he vomited. I gave him a bath and by the time he was finished with that he just wanted to sleep. He pretty much stayed in his bed from 6pm--7am, sleeping + taking meds for fever. We decided it'd be best to get him in to the doctor first thing Thursday (yesterday) morning.

We went to the doctor Thursday morning, and by this point he'd hardly been awake enough to drink much + was turning down pretty much anything we'd try to give him. He was in good spirits and seemed OK + his fever was staying at a manageable temp. At his appointment, after X-rays + a flu swab (which was negative), we decided I'd keep pushing fluids and start him on Amoxicillin.

We started the Amoxicillin at 10:45 and by 12:30 he was breaking out in a rash. I contacted our doctor and let her know about his condition + that he'd only drank about 150mL since our appointment. I gave him Benadryl to counter the Amoxicillin allergy + Tylenol because his fever was up again. Our doc sent orders to the hospital for us to start fluids ASAP.

We arrived at the hospital (where thankfully daddy was able to meet us) at about 2pm. We got set up in a room where a nurse came and drained, what seemed like, a gallon of blood. He wasn't too happy, obviously, about that and that wasn't even the start of it. About 15 minutes later two nurses arrived to set up his IV for fluids. They started with the vein that the previous nurse used, but when they went to stick him he jumped so hard they lost it. They were finally able to get a vein in his right hand. He.Was.Pissed. Thank goodness for popsicles because I don't think he would have ever quit crying.

Stella & Daddy came and went with dinner + entertainment. Wyatt was hooked up until about 9:30 and we finally got home about 10. When we got home he was running fever but we were able to start his new antibiotic.

I'm so relieved that he woke up this morning feeling, sounding, + acting like his normal self.  He even almost got in trouble this morning. Praying the fever stays away and we're finished with this crud...plague...whatever. Thank you for all the love + kind words on Instagram the past 24 hours!

Three-Day Weekend Recap

Tuesday, January 17, 2017

Happy Tuesday...I'm finally getting around to talking about our weekend. Sean had a 3-day weekend so we've been enjoying the extra family time.

First off, thank you all for the kind words for Wyatt + Stella. They're on the mend, a lingering cough for Wyatt & some snotty noses, but doing better.

We spent most of Friday inside staying warm, cuddling, & resting. Wyatt did have a coughing fit on Friday which led to him throwing up, but thankfully it was only a one-time occurrence.

Saturday was kind of a blur. I took a solo trip to the grocery store, we ate pizza, and spent a majority of the time lounging.

We all ventured out Sunday morning for church and spent the evening burning all of our pine straw + leaves.

Monday was more of the same. I have to give a huge shout-out to my #1 guy. He took such good care of us all weekend--cooked breakfast all three mornings + a big dinner on Monday, did laundry, + took care of the yard.

Praying this weather turns around soon...so tired of grey skies. Hope you all had a great weekend, maybe it was a holiday weekend for you too!

{FIVE} Favorite Moments of the Week

Friday, January 13, 2017

Our week in one post...

{ONE}
The beginning of the week was pretty chilly around here so we hung out inside. We did lots of play-doh, jigsaw puzzles (which I'm so amazed at how well Wyatt does them!!), color wonder, and other stuff that I can't remember. Oh, probably TV.

 {TWO}
The playhouse is coming right along. Except the weather changed mid-week and we have a chance of rain every.single.day. for like two weeks.

 {THREE}
As I mentioned, we had a change in weather. Temps in the 70s + rain chances, but we'll take it. We have played in the backyard and even had a park play-date.

{FOUR}
Wednesday night Wyatt spiked a temp and had a horrible phlegm-y cough. We spent a majority of Thursday in bed, minus the time that we spent at the doctor...for no real reason. Stella has already started coughing so I'm just waiting for her fever to spike.

{FIVE}
In other news, my new favorite drink in the evenings...Kentucky Mules. My sweet husband even bought my the "fancy" mugs in which to drink them out of....from the comfort of my bed.

That pretty much sums up our week. I hope to be back, maybe next week, with more interesting information. Or maybe not. It may just be more pictures of my children + alcohol.

Holiday Season Checklist // Re-Cap

Monday, January 9, 2017

At the beginning of the Christmas season I created a checklist of fun things I wanted our family to do during the holiday season. I'm happy to say we managed to cross all things off, with the exception of one...I just never got around to getting our elf out this year. This is a little re-cap of the fun we had!

Decorate a Gingerbread House

Honestly, I'm so glad I did not have to be a part of this experience. Wyatt decorated his little house at school, and I just had to bring it home. Done!!

Tacky Christmas Sweater Party

A co-worker of Sean's hosted this party and it was so fun! Obviously we didn't make ours but they'll be lots of fun for years to come!

25 Acts of Christmas Kindness

This season we tried something new to go along with our Advent calendar, we incorporated an act of kindness each day. If you followed along Instagram then you're pretty aware of what all we did, but if not, here's a list. We managed to get almost all of them accomplished in the 25 days. Definitely a tradition I want to continue every year.

 Put Up Christmas Lights

Aaaannnndddd....they're still up. Sean always does our lights and they're always our favorite!

 Decorate Christmas Trees

Can't have too many trees, right?? The kids each have a tree and then we have our main tree in the family room. Wyatt and Stella love to decorate them all throughout the Christmas season.

Drive Around and Look at Christmas Lights

We managed to do that and then some. I'd say we drove around at least twice a week just to look at lights. Plus, we visited two different outdoor locations to view lights. The kids can't get enough...but Stella really prefers the inflatables.

Attend Christmas Parade

We attended our towns Christmas parade at the beginning of December. It was lots of fun and super loud but we all enjoyed it.

Christmas Pajamas

Holiday pajamas + matching pajamas = OUR FAVORITE!! Even the kiddos love to match...I mean who wouldn't when they're so cute!!

Watch Christmas Movies

We did manage to watch a few Christmas movies...but mainly Christmas shows, like A Charlie Brown Christmas + other Christmas shows.

Send Christmas Cards

We did get Christmas cards out...quite possibly one of my favorites of our family.

That pretty much sums up our Christmas...I think. We made so many wonderful memories this year but I think my favorite was seeing how much they learned about the reason for the season.
