Our Memorial Day Weekend

Wednesday, May 28, 2014

With so much going on around here the past couple of weeks and with the house addition about to begin, we decided it was a good weekend to stay home and relax a bit.

We started Friday morning off the same as usual. Wyatt and I slowly got around and ate, while Sean ran a few errands.  Then we loaded up and headed down to El Dorado to pick up a few things so Sean could build Wyatt a "swing set".  Sean spent most of the afternoon constructing and welding together a contraption to hang the swing from.  Our contractor came over at some point and marked where the addition would be and finalized the plans. They should start no later than June 2...happy birthday to me!

Saturday morning Wyatt and I went for a walk and "watered" the flowers, one of our new favorite things to do.  Wyatt is pretty obsessed with the water hose. Saturday afternoon our babysitter came over and Sean and I headed out for a movie.  We saw Neighbors which was pretty hysterical, if you don't mind all the crudeness. We picked up some KFC and headed for home.

Sunday morning we had planned to go to the pool but it was kind of cloudy so we thought we'd wait until later in the afternoon.  Sean got busy tearing down the rest of the porch while Wyatt and I watched from inside.
Around 6:30 we headed out to the pool and enjoyed our first swim of the summer! Which, of course, Wyatt loved! Well, he enjoyed climbing out and then "jumping" back in. He was pretty precious!

Monday was a pretty lazy day.  We ran to Wal-Mart first thing in the morning and bought a few necessities for the week.  To be honest, I can't remember much of what we did.  I do know that we headed to the pool sometime around 6 and stayed until 7:30.  I'd call that a good relaxing day, and weekend!

13 Months!!

Monday, May 26, 2014

Wyatt,
Its so hard to believe that we now have a one year old on our hands! I swear, it's like you turned one and grew up. You have teeth coming in like crazy and you're understanding more and more of what we're saying. We, of course, love you more and more with each passing day!

What you did this month:
  • You weigh 23 pounds, 11 oz.  You are 31.5 inches long and your head circumference is 19 inches.
  • You are finishing up your size 3 diapers and wearing size 4 at night.
  • You are wearing size 12-18 months clothing.
  • You drink about 20 ounces of milk a day.  You drink from cups during the day but still have a bottle before bed.
  • You eat solids for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, usually with a snack in the morning and afternoon.
  • You are taking naps around 10:30 and 3:00, and you sleep for 1.5 - 2 hours. All I have to say is, "Are you ready to go night-night with Lion?" and you take off!
  • Since it stays light out so much longer we're able to keep you up until about 8:30. This has helped with your sleeping. You can at least make it until 3:30 and once even 6. We're getting close!
  • You are full on walking, and at times almost running.
  • You have 6 teeth now, your four front teeth plus two back teeth.
  • You love water! It doesn't matter if it's from the sprinkler, pool, or hose, you'll play in it.
  • You love to "help" with laundry and "help" put away the silverware.
  • We had your birthday party this month at the park. You had a great time!
  • You enjoyed your first swim of the summer! There will be lots more of that to come!

5 on Friday {Summer Edition}

Friday, May 23, 2014

Since this weekend is Memorial Day weekend, in my book, summer can officially begin!! I've spent almost every afternoon this week (during Wyatt's nap) laying out, and it feels so good! This is by far my favorite time of year, and no, it doesn't have anything to do with my birthday and our anniversary in the next week, ha!

--ONE--
What good is summer and a swimming pool if you don't have a swimsuit?!! I finally ordered one this week and I can't wait to put it to use next week! Sadly it won't be here in time for all the swimming this weekend.  I ordered it from OLD NAVY and it will definitely serve its purpose for the summer.
--TWO--
Wyatt was given a swimming pool for his birthday and we've been putting it to good use this week.  We've been going out after dinner to play in it.  I'm hoping the water will warm up a little more, I'm afraid he's going to freeze to death!

--THREE--
We've also been enjoying the beautiful weather in the evenings with walks around the neighborhood.  I hate to admit this, but up until this week we'd never been on a family walk.  I'm loving the time together! And Wyatt loves getting pulled around in his "little blue truck"!  (Side note: Notice the foam in the seat?? Yea, daddy wanted to make sure he was comfy. HA!)

--FOUR--
We've been using our mornings playing in the sprinkler.  We don't have a ton of shade in our yard so I prefer to go out before it's too hot.

--FIVE--
Speaking of summer, you know you have to have sunscreen.  I'm pretty sure we're up to about 10 bottles/cans of the stuff.  I found this at Wal-Mart and I think it's going to come in so handy at the pool.

What keeps me up at night

Wednesday, May 21, 2014

Well, the restlessness and stress has hit, and I'm definitely not liking it.

  • What do we do with Wyatt if I go into labor in the middle of the day/night? We don't have family here and I'm completely stressing over this detail.  If it's the middle of the night do we get him up and take him to someone's house?  Do we ask someone to be ready to come to our house at 3 in the morning? It's totally stressing me out.  And my husband is clueless, his solution was, "We'll just take him with us!"...oh, yea, that'll work out great!
  • Will our addition be finished in time? Will we even have a nursery set up and ready? Not that it really matters because she'll sleep in our room in the beginning anyway, but it's just added stuff when she gets here. And speaking of the addition, I'm hoping to do an update soon.  Nothing much has happened but it will SOON!
  •  What do we need to buy? Do we need two changing tables, one in Wyatt and babies room? Do we really need a double stroller, or can we make it with me "wearing" her?

Well, that's what's up for now! I'm sure my list will change soon, ha! But, if you have any answers or ideas for any of these problems, I'd love to hear!

House Addition {UPDATE}

Tuesday, May 20, 2014

Not much has changed since the last time I did an UPDATE on the house.  We have another meeting with our contractor this week and they're supposed to get started next week.

Last time I talked about how we're going to have to paint the brick on our house because the brick on our house is no longer made.  We decided on a paint color, for now.  The paint color is Behr's Twig Basket.  It looks more gray in this picture but it's actually a dark tan/brown.

Looking at this picture, it's the third color.  #1 was obviously too light, it was basically the same color as the siding/trim.  #2 is a shade of green.  It was actually my favorite but I had to compromise.  We may use it for the shutters and door. And #4 was too dark.  I'm really trying to avoid making the house too dark.  I want it to have some dimension.  Obviously, the picture really doesn't do the colors their complete justice (I blame the lighting) but you get the idea.

Hopefully the next update you see, there will be some concrete poured!

Nursery #2 {Idea Board}

Monday, May 19, 2014

1.) FAT QUARTER SHOP  This Isabella Rosey quarter bundle pack will be perfect for accents in frames and little pillows. I love the floral prints and the colors!
2.) POTTERY BARN KIDS  I'm in love with tiered ruffle crib skirts, and I'm in LOVE with this eyelet one from Pottery Barn!
3.) BABY MOD MODENA 3-in-1  We're going to buy the same crib we have in Wyatt's room.  We absolutely love how it looks with the paint color, plus it can be a toddler bed.
4.) SHERWIN WILLIAMS  Light French Gray paint color.  We're pretty much painting all of the rooms in this color during the addition/renovation.  It's just the perfect color of gray!
5.)  AMERICAN BABY COMPANY  We have these sheets in navy in Wyatt's room and they're so soft and durable.  We're going to do pink to break up the grays.

The only thing I have left to find is a dresser for our princess' room! Or, we may move the one from Wyatt's room to her room, and get him a larger one.  We'll also use the rocker that's in Wyatt's room in her room.

5 on Friday {Random}

Friday, May 16, 2014

Well, it's definitely been a couple of weeks since I've participated in 5 on Friday.  I'm hoping to back in the swing of things and ready to start linking up again!
 THE GOOD LIFE BLOG
--ONE--
This week has definitely been a low-key week for us, which is so nice.  We had such a busy weekend with all of our family in town and all the partying that took place.  It's also been rainy here, which to me, makes a perfect lazy week.  Thankfully, though, the sun did come out yesterday and today...I was getting a bit stir crazy.  We headed to the park yesterday and were met with a surprise, which Wyatt loved!

--TWO--
I never mentioned what I received from my boys for Mother's Day, I've been too busy using it.  Sean bought me a new laptop, yay!! My other one bit the dust a few months ago, I think it was pulled onto the floor one too many times by some little hands (but, in his defense, it was on its last breath anyway).  So, if you've noticed a sudden increase in blogging from me, that's why!

--THREE--
If you're stopping by from the link-up then you may not know that we're expecting our second child in October! We found out the gender on Monday and you can read all about it HERE!

--FOUR--
Since we now know the gender of baby #2, the name game has begun.  I'm pretty sure we've decided on a name, well, the first name at least.  The middle name has come down to two options.  It's definitely a name that we've always loved and talked about, I just really never thought we would use it because it is pretty unique.  BUT, I'm super excited about it! I'm hoping to share what it is with y'all in the next week, or so.

--FIVE--
Oh, and if I haven't talked about my pregnancy enough, I'm looking for a maternity swimsuit. The pool opens in TWO weeks and I'm ready...I just need a swimsuit.  So, if you have any suggestions or reviews on any maternity swimsuits, please share! Thanks in advance!

Our Ultrasound

Thursday, May 15, 2014

We finally had our ultrasound on Monday!! I was so excited about finally finding out if Wyatt is getting a baby brother or sister, not that it really matters.  Surprisingly Wyatt did great in the waiting room, thanks to a little girl who he was totally trying to impress. And, thankfully, the ultrasound room is decent size with a couch, so there was plenty of room for him to play around...until he figured out he could open the door, luckily that was towards the end.
This picture pretty much melts my heart!
The rest of the appointment (the boring part) Sean and Wyatt spent in the car.

But enough with my babbling and on to the good stuff!

Wyatt's getting the......
Ok, so we definitely couldn't hold out for as long as we thought.  We were originally going to wait and try to do a gender reveal with our family, like we did with WYATT, but we just couldn't wait that long! ha! And if you follow me on Instagram, then hey, you're lucky, you already knew!

We're, of course, super excited about having a princess in the house! We were definitely a little surprised because we both really thought it would be a boy.  And I can already tell a huge difference in clothing options between boys and girls.  I literally could have spent a fortune when we went and picked up this onesie, but I was good and only bought it...for now.

Mango

Wednesday, May 14, 2014

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 19 Weeks (5/12/2014)
Size of Baby: 6.0 inches and about 8.5 ounces.  Right now our baby is the size of a mango!
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +/- 12 pounds

Gender: We know and are so excited!! We'll be sharing the gender in a couple of weeks!
Movement: Still pretty minimal.  I learned at the ultrasound appointment that the placenta is in front of the baby, so that's why I'm not feeling much movement yet.
Food Cravings: Nothing really right now.  I'm pretty happy just to eat.
Food Aversions: Still none.
What I Miss: Not really missing anything right now, I think I'm too busy with Wyatt, ha!
Sleep: Sleeping better this week.
Symptoms: Having trouble catching my breath sometimes, some sinus issues and headaches, but pretty much feeling good.
Best Moment This Week: Celebrating our baby boy's birthday with our closest family and friends!
What I'm Looking Forward to: A little relaxation time after our busy weekend.
