Friday, April 26 started for me at 2:15am when the nurses gave me a second dose of Cytotec. After that I was able to drift in and out of sleep until about 5. At 5:00am I woke with my first labor contraction. It wasn't too harsh but it woke me. At 6:00 they started my Pitocin drip and informed me that they would be increasing the dosage every 15 minutes as needed. By 9:00 Dr. R came in and broke my water, I was 2cm dilated. I was in quite a bit of pain and asking for some kind of pain relief so Dr. R told them I could go ahead and have an epidural. By the time the anesthesiologist arrived and my epidural was in I was then dilated to a 4. From then I continued to progress pretty quickly. A little before 2:00pm I was fully dilated. Sean and the nurses did a wonderful job the next two hours trying to get our little stubborn guy to come down but none of their "tricks" seemed to work. Dr. R came in around 4 and decided we'd use his "trick" (i.e. forceps). Well, his "trick" worked and at 4:26pm Wyatt was born. It was such a surreal moment for both Sean and me. He's one week old today and we are just so smitten and in love with this little miracle. I've always heard people say the couldn't imagine their lives before, and it's so true.

These are some of the many things we love about you already:

  • You're high-pitched "girl" scream when you're mad.
  • Your tiny feet and toes that curl around daddy's finger.
  • Your mini-mullet.
  • How alert you are and how you're always looking around for something new.
  • I love how much you love your daddy and the way you watch him. He loves you so much.
  • I love our late night/early morning feedings and "talks".
  • Your little words...well, we think they're words.
